Why Does FPS Matter in Gaming?
Higher FPS means smoother gameplay and lower input lag. At 60 FPS each frame takes 16.7ms. At 144 FPS each frame takes just 6.9ms - cutting input lag by more than half. Competitive FPS players often target 144Hz or 240Hz monitors to gain a reaction time advantage.
FPS is only half the story: your monitor must keep up, so run the refresh rate test and read FPS vs refresh rate explained to understand how they interact. Not sure what to aim for? See what is a good FPS for gaming. And since frames only help if you react in time, check your reflexes with the reaction time test or measure your clicks per second with the CPS tester.
